The National Robothon Challenge (NROC) is back this September, aiming to foster local robotics innovation and talent to tackle real-world challenges.
Presented by STEM edutainment academy 5T3M, multiverse-based learning developers Leanbot, and Lenovo Malaysia, this 19th edition of NROC embraces the Ministry of Educationโs digital-first initiatives and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporationโs #mydigital-maker project.
The theme, โSecond Earth: Space Colonisation,โ will challenge participants to use robotics in building settlements and harnessing natural resources in simulated space environments. The competition not only stimulates creativity and critical thinking but also prepares the champions to represent Malaysia at the International Robothon 2024 in Thailand.
NROC 2023 โ Paving the way for robotics innovation
With a focus on outer space trailblazing, NROC 2023 encourages participants to unleash their imagination and think beyond conventional solutions.
Shoant Teoh, CEO of 5T3M, emphasizes that the competition aims to nurture a new generation proficient in robotics technology and capable of applying their expertise to create a more sustainable world.
By challenging participants to address real-world issues related to space colonisation, NROC provides a platform for students to showcase their skills and creativity in robotics.
he champions at the NROC 2023 finals in December will become Malaysiaโs national representatives at the International Robothon 2024 in Thailand โ with all training and competition expenses fully sponsored by the organisers. 1st and 2nd runners-up will receive cash prizes of RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.
Journey to the International Robothon 2024
The NROC 2023 finals in December will crown the champions who will represent Malaysia at the International Robothon 2024 in Thailand. This opportunity opens doors for Malaysian students to showcase their talents on an international stage.
The organizers will fully sponsor the training and competition expenses for the national representatives, motivating students to push their boundaries and excel in robotics technology.Participating schools and students can purchase the competition kit bundles on 5T3Mโs official website.
The kits include all components for building and programming robotic solutions aligned with the challenge theme, including Leanbotโs specialised robots, as well as field tracks and models. Additionally, the kits will provide participants with year-long access to the Leanbotโs Pythaverse, a learning management system (LMS) that supports collaborative learning in fully digital spaces.
Participating schools and students can purchase competition kit bundles from 5T3Mโs official website. These comprehensive kits include all components required to build and program robotic solutions aligned with the competition theme.
The kits also provide access to Leanbotโs Pythaverse, a digital learning management system (LMS) that supports collaborative learning in virtual spaces. This platform allows students to learn from their immediate school environments while connecting with learners from around the world, fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation.
Through experiential learning and problem-solving, students can develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
